President's Corner

Welcome to Prabasi. I want to personally thank the outgoing Executive Committee members for their hard work in organizing the events of the last year in a timely fashion. Prabasi is the oldest Bengali organization in the New England area dedicated to promoting the Bengali tradition and culture through various cultural events like Durga Puja, Bijoya, Saraswati Puja and Kabi Jayanti. These are the major events that Prabasi organizes that encourages participation of local talents and artists from all over USA and India.

The new Prabasi Committee is looking forward to uniting the Bengali Community by organizing cultural events in such a way that it attracts and appeals to Bengalis of all ages—young and old. We will strive to bring in quality program, traditional rituals, delicious food and conduct more outreach to help community members in need. Please contact us if you want to be involved in any of the subcommittees. We welcome your active participation in all aspects of Prabasi matters.

Our first event is the picnic. Please note our new venue and activities on the website under the sub heading picnic 2011. Please bring your family and friends to enjoy the outdoors and the planned activities like cricket, badminton and a magic show by our own talented Rupayan Neogi.

We want your feedback. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly or any of our fabulous EC members with your concerns and suggestions. Our goal is to involve the entire Bengali community in the New England area and improve the organization through positive suggestions and your ideas.
